Sony Ericsson has officially revealed the Xperia Neo at Mobile World Congress, confirming previously leaked info on the device.

The Neo – was previously known by its codename ‘Halon’ – is pretty much the sans-keyboard version of the Xperia Pro , running Android 2.3 Gingerbread and packing Sony’s ‘Bravia Engine’ capacitive touchscreen display.

During its press conference, Sony Ericsson demoed the Xperia Neo’s ability to output HD video and display HD pictures via HDMI. A nice feature is the ability to control the user interface of the phone with your remote once it’s connected to the TV (though the set has to be CEC compatible).

As with the Pro, the Neo also features Sony Ericsson’s Exmore R senor, which according to SE helps the camera cope with low light conditions when taking high-quality stills and video (though the flash is LED rather than Xenon).

Sony could showcase a Windows Phone handset at MWC 2012

Sony is reportedly developing a Windows Phone handset and it could be making an appearance at Mobile World Congress at the end of February, 2012.

Rumours are now floating around that some ‘sources close to Sony' say the Japanese manufacturer will be debuting a Windows Phone powered smartphone at the Barcelona-based mobile expo.

A Sony Ericsson-branded Windows Phone was spotted in 2011 sporting a slide-out Qwerty keyboard and under the rather awful codename ‘Julie'. Another device , or possibly the same one, leaked in 2012, too.

While the Xperia brand has been specifically reserved for Android, the photos of this Windows handset show something very familiar looking and we wouldn't be surprised if what started as the Xperia ‘look' has now become Sony's signature style as it expands into other platforms.
