Q: I am going to college next fall and am planning on getting a macbook. I was wondering if there is going to be a new one released soon...I don't want mine to be outdated right away

A: Apple is very discreet about the item they release. Either way, a macbook is an awesome buy, and it will fit all your needs. It can run office and all that. You can even run windows on it. Good luck.

So my old computer has been dying a slow death.  I bought it back in the summer of 2006, and it did me well through grad school and my thesis, and in the years after that.  But recently, I could no longer have Safari open with anything else but iTunes.  My camera stopped working a while back.  I filled my hard drive (a meager 20 GB) and started adding files to a portable one.  C said I could add more RAM and hard drive space, and buy a new operating system that is still supported by Apple, but by then, I might as well get a new computer. So a new computer it was.  I bought a 11" Macbook Air this past weekend and I love it.  It's very compact and astonishingly light.  It's got a full sized keyboard.  It's also very well built, definitely better than my old plastic white Macbook.  It's really really fast.  The battery life is fantastic-- about five hours at my level of usage (putzing around on the internet, using normal programs)....
