Please understand that you cannot officially request a jailbreak. the fact is that jailbreaking softwares have been introduced to help out people like you who are being limited in their free apps range because iphone makers or any of the cellular service providers does not provide an official route of unlocking the iphone. this include verizon itself. changing your SIM card will not help your cause in any way but you can seek the help of someone who is a bit of iphone jailbreak/unlock expert.

The carrier wouldnt do it, but its possible to unlock any iPhone regardless of firmware or basebands. I recently unlocked my AT&T iPhone and right now have a Tmobile SIM in it.
